The 1884 De Dion tricycle sold $ 4.62 million

The De Dion steam tricycle built in 1884 and named 'La Marquise' is currently considered the oldest automobile in the world still in working order. Beautiful relic of the history of transport, it was presented to RM Auctions auction of Hershey (Pennsylvania) on October 7. The result of the sale has exceeded all expectations, including those of RM Auctions.

The steam engine on auction happens to be a De Dion tricycles three who participated in the first car race in history in 1887 from the Pont de Neuilly Versailles. Maybe is it a reason to be pushed to auction more than $ 4 million.
