After mesmerising the audiences with her alluring performance as the blind Hamsavalli in Bala’s Naan Kadavul and subsequently bagging a state award for the movie, actress Pooja has been missing in action in K’town.
There were rumours that the actress was consciously avoiding starring in Tamil films because she was planning to tie the knot with a Bengaluru-based software professional.
But the actress denied these rumours and termed them ‘baseless’, she said that her absence from the movie scene was because she was helping out her friend who was running an energy conservation company.
The latest news is that Pooja, who is already a well known face in Sinhalese films, has been invited to play the role of a princess Pabawathi in a period film titled Kusa Paba.
It is touted as the Sri Lankan film industry’s contribution to the on-going year-long celebration of the 2,600th anniversary of Buddha’s enlightenment.
Veteran Sinhalese actor Jackson Anthony plays the lead as Prince Kusa. The actress who was in Chennai recently for a promotional event confirmed the news to DC.
“Yeah, talks are on for Kusa Paba which is based on Buddhist Jataka Tales. The tale, which has all ingredients of an Indian mythology, is about how the ugly but talented Prince Kusa wins the love of Princess Paba after several hurdles. It is a beautiful role.”
