Minissha Lamba yearns for a beach vacation

After sashaying down the ramp in beach wear for designer duo Hemant-Nandita at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), Bollywood actress Minissha Lamba yearns for a beach vacation.

"I'm dying to go on a vacation - some place where I can dive into the blue ocean water and sunbathe. I have had a lot of commitments lately so it was hard to take out time for a holiday," Minissha told IANS.

The actress, who was the showstopper for designer duo Hemant-Nandita, says she went into the holiday mood as soon as she slipped into the designers' chic resort wear collection, inspired by "a vacation in Ibiza".

"After wearing this dress, I really think I want to go to Ibiza without all the stress of work," said Minissha, who walked the ramp confidently in a colourful, flowy dress with prominent work on the neckline.

"I really like what Hemant and Nandita have done because no one in India used to treat beach wear and resort wear as a legitimate couture line. And their line offers everything - from swimsuits to flattering gowns with work for a classy dinner at a resort," she added.

After her glamorous avatar in "Kidnap", Minissha is now waiting for the release of Shyam Benegal's comedy "Well Done Abba", in which she stars alongside Boman Irani and Sammir Dattani.

"It is a political satire based in a village - it's a very different movie. It has its message to it but it isn't preachy or moralistic," said the actress who made her debut with off beat film "Yahaan".

The film is inspired by two short stories - "Narsaiyyan Ki Bavdi" by Jeelani Bano and "Phulwa Ka Pul" by Sanjeev, and is produced by Reliance BIG Pictures. It revolves around a Mumbai-based driver who takes a month's leave to find a groom for his teenage daughter.

Asked if the movie is a conscious effort to experiment with the kind of cinema she has been used to, Minissha said: "There's no conscious effort. I have always loved whatever I have done."

Minissha was also seen in "Bachna Ae Haseeno" with Ranbir Kapoor.

I wonder why models don't smile on ramp: Neha Dhupia

New Delhi: Former Miss India Neha Dhupia, who flashed a million dollar smile while sashaying down the ramp Sunday at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) for designer Kavita Bhartia, wonders why models don't flash a smile during catwalk.

"I have always wondered why models always walk the ramp with a straight face. Why don't they ever smile? Even during my modelling days, I used to wonder about it," Neha said after the show.

"But then I guess, if beautiful models will start smiling, they will completely take the show away from the designer's clothes," she added.

Dressed in a black ruffled dress teamed up with a bust jacket-like top with metallic gold embellishments on it, Neha delivered a perfect catwalk sans any extra drama on the stage.

"I was very impressed with Kavita's collection and I was eyeing this gold jacket when I came in. I didn't know it was for me. I was really glad that she had planned that I will wear it," said Neha.

The actress, who is awaiting the release of her film "De Dana Dan", was not even a wee bit nervous before walking the ramp. "I was excited," she said.

Talking about her movie, she said: "'De Dana Dan' is an out and out comedy. It has a lot of people in it. The phrase - 'The more the merrier' perfectly suits it. But I hope people enjoy the film."

Neha, who has been chosen by Hollywood actress-singer Jessica Simpson to be the Indian Beauty ambassador for her TV show "Price Of Beauty", has five films in the pipeline to be released within six months.

It includes "Raat Gayi Baat Gayi", "Pappu Can't Dance Saala", "Raftaar 24X7". She will also feature in Vipul Shah's "Action Replay" along with Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar.

" 'Action Replay' is expected to release next summer," she said.

Marriage rumours affecting my career, rues Rani

Instead of wasting time in clarifying bizarre rumours, Rani said, she would rather concentrate on her films, work hard and make her fans happy

Bollywood actress Rani Mukherji says that rumours about her getting married have started affecting her career.

“These rumours have been going on for three years and they have started now affecting my career. Lot of filmmakers who approach me for roles start by asking whether I am getting married. They have apprehensions whether I can commit myself to their project,” Rani told PTI in an interview.

The numero uno actress termed as “most laughable” the rumour which said that she had left her posh Juhu bungalow because it had brought her ill luck and had moved back to her old flat at Andheri.

“I have made the new house for my family from my hard work, sweat and blood. My house is my temple and how can I run away from it. I am being made to look like an insecure person which I am not,” she said.

The actress said the baseless stories about her are getting stretched too much.

“I can’t get married to one man for the last three years or to different men,” she said about her alleged link ups including the rumour about her marriage to filmmaker Aditya Chopra.

“I am the only daughter of my parents. When I get married, it will be announced publicly and will take place with pomp,” Rani said referring to the story that she has secretly married to Chopra.

Yesteryear actress Radha's daugther, Karthika, is debuting with Josh opposite Nagarjuna's elder son Naga Chaitanya. The film is all set for release and we caught up with Karthika at her Mumbai residence for a brief chit-chat. Here are the excerpts from an exclusive interview

Are you excited about your debut film?
Not really excited... but the feeling is something like the anxiety one has while waiting for results after writing one's exams.
Do you know that how big a glamour queen your mother was? There used to be a huge poster for the film Kaamyaab (1984) near V.T. Station (in Bombay) that said Radha was coming?
I did not know that. Actually, for quite some time, I was not even aware that she was an actress! It's only when I went to Chennai or Kerala that I got to know that she was an actress. When I came to Hyderabad later, I came to know how successful she was at that time!
How good is your Telugu
arthamavutundi.. kaanee maaTlaaDaTam pooritgaa raadu... (laughs)! During the first schedule of shoot, director Vasu Varma sir used to explain to me in English or Hindi. My mother used to explain how the feel of it was in Telugu. But, from second schedule onwards, he used to explain to me in Telugu. I can understand well now.
How was it working with Naga Chaitanya?
There's not much time to interact with each other, as we both were busy with our respective scenes. During the shot breaks, he used to be busy with the director and I was busy with my scenes. He's really good and has no hang-ups, though.
You're debuting through a prestigious production house...
It's such a good feeling that I cannot explain! The set up is really great. Dil Raju was always on the sets and used to look after everything. And he's really helpful in every way!
Is it true that you danced along with your mother in the Nataraja temple at Chidambaram. Any plans of performing on the stage?
I have not yet given my arangetram, but I did it there as it was in a temple. I'd need a lot of practice to do stage performances! I do not have the time to spend for practice right now, as I am still going to college and have also been doing the movie. I might do it in the future...
How did your being a trained dancer help you in the movie shoot?
(Laughs) I don't have any fast numbers or dances in the movie, actually! Most songs are montages with soft steps. Thus, there was no need to work hard for dances in this movie.
What are the things you look for before signing a film?
Definitely, the banner, and then the set up of the film. I will take my mother's help in decision-making, as I'm too young to take an individual decision.
